November 25th, 2024 - 66th Email - Party crashers

Hey

This week was wild
It's like split into two parts
Before and after transfers
So monday, tuesday, and wednesday was just us (me and elder harris) figuring out what we were doing down here after the emergency transfer and it was honestly pretty lonely but we survived
Uhhhhhh
Tuesday was insane
Spent the entire day figuring out rides to english class it was actually quite stressful our friend came and then the members were figuring out what they were doing we needed to get an english member to give other spanish members rides and stuff it was crazy
Cool miracle tho
An inactive member calls us up and says he wants to start coming back to church, he recently moved here and hes got a cute little fam with his wife and kids they got baptized down near brawley bout six years ago went inactive and now he came to church and loved it super hype the kinda growth we need down here
Uhhh
Wednesday morning did some service for a nice lady (not a member) and we got a member to come help last second bro is super chill we love chris
Then transfers were on thursday and now theres an english missionary companionship here again
Ill miss working with the english branch but its probably for the best i grew to love them and we're still really tight with them (honestly the two branches are like basically the same branch they work together a lot) so we get fed by english members and the spanish members feed the english members
Im just super sad we lost the english area sim card on our phones so now we need to deal with hot spots again for wifi when before we just used the data on both sim cards lol
Once the english missionaries moved in things got easier and less lonely and now we chillin
Saturday was crazy we helped an english member move a ton of furniture from salton city to borrego springs and it was really hard and took forever but we were able to do a lot of it and then we got pizza so it was all worth it
What was really sad was we had a lot of people set up to come to church and then only 1 came because of sickness and other junk we dont know but its ok
Uhhhh
Yeah good week overall we crashed a couple mexican parties and got free food and met some epic people so thats cool
Saturday was a massive birthdat party for a 17 year old and there was super loud music (they clearly dont care about their neighbors lol) so we had to check it out and we invited a few people to church (obviously they didnt come) but still we got soda and stuff
And then yesterday we met some absolute dawgs grillin some burgers and they were actually lowkey interested they said it was a sisters house but they gave us their real address and they are on date for baptism now and we got free burgers (not me boutta eat mine rn cuz i saved it for later)
Also found a sick jacket that says reese's on it ill post a picture

Alright thats it for this week love you all and have a wonderful day

November 18, 2024 - 65th Email - Hey

hey

So this week has been crazy
We get a call saturday night at 10:30 from prez that elder mejia was gonna get emergency transfered up to barstow and now im with elder harris down here so we had to go sunday morning (we missed church)
(We dont know why it happened)
Im pretty sad tho cuz we got along super well but elder harris is cool too but hes also like pretty different so thisll be interesting
Other crazy things that happened uhhhh thursday we did a mega exchange with the whole zone and elder rowen and i were down here in borrego
We had a potluck in the english branch yesterday after church (we got there right on time for food) and it was a pretty good time we did relatives around me and i was related to basically everybody in the branch so that was funny
Also our tires were really low pressure so we had to do that last night

Idk just a goofy week and i drove like 5 hours yesterday (we went to yucaipa) so im dead tired
I also bought a pack of reese's cups and they all had melted before i bought them and then refroze so its a big nugget and its super weird
Lowkey probably couldve gotten refunded for it but it tastes the same so i didnt care that much lol

Thats basically it i dont got the energy to write more

Pictures
-a house burned down
-snow at our branch president's house in the mountains (we didnt go he sent the pic to us)
-we got stopped for about an hour on the drive up to yucaipa cuz a car rolled off the side of the road

November 11, 2024 - 64th Email - Why do dogs love me so much

Hey all you people

So ima be honest
Like nothing happened this week
We just did a ton of service i feel like

Monday we had lessons and junk
Apparently tuesday we were at someones house for two hours but i dont remember that lol
Wednesday morning we helped the guy who burned himself last week (brother clifford) rake leaves in his yard
The problem was tho its been insanely windy these last few days so there were constant gusts and there were these annoying (but cool) purple leaves that were just absolutely everywhere and if you raked them theyd just go flying and make a bigger mess but we managed to clean up a lot especially in the backyard where there was less wind
We also had dinner with members in the english branch and they had family over from wyoming so that was cool and the food was way good she made some rice and casserole
Then another member on friday made some fried chicken and it was epic
Anyway thursday we spend the entire morning and early afternoon up where people actually live because we have zone council and also we went to bishop's storehouse becuz we were getting food for our friend's family (they had two boys that just got baptized) and even though we didnt get back until like 4 pm it was worth it to see how happy they were to get the food it was really sweet
Also on wednesday elder mejia totally left his tag at home for like three hours bro was walking around with no tag
Uh what else
Good english class thursday
We were supposed to start english class on tuesday but one of our regulars was celebrating his birthday and hes like the only one who actually drives a car of the group so if he couldnt go he couldnt pick everyone up so we just didnt do it
Friday we exchanged with the zone leaders and i went with elder croft because he cant drive and neither can mejia so i can only go on exchanges with elder croft and not davison because they need someone who can drive
So we were hitting up people up in desert shores and we found a motel and so we were thinking this motel is probably FULL of hispanics just getting to the us but we start knocking and we get through about five doors and ALL of them speak chinese and idk about you guys but i dont speak chinese i mean i only know like three words and i dont know how useful the word for ice cream is for spreading the gospel so we just gave up
We did a service that morning too cuz we went to this nonmember lady who just randomly texted us asking for help and we go over and she said she had missionaries do service a long time ago and looking at her notes they did do service but apparently they never so much as told her the name of our church so we taught her a little bit of the gospel and stuff it was good
Saturday we had a friend (her husband is a member) who fed us some GOOD food (steak and chicken) and we also went to borrego that day
So sunday we're inviting people to church and we get a call from a member of the branch who tells us we forgot to set up the bingo hall so we had to rush to church and set up everything it was lowkey kinda funny cuz we had the second counselor of the mission presidency speak in our sacrament meeting and we had the largest turnout EVER as a branch (29 people) plus lots of friends and one asked if she could get baptized so we are working with her to set up a date
The message was awesome and presidente luna spoke to the youth too it was way cool
Also we didnt go but the english branch had like 45 people there because there were three families visiting they were crammed in that little chapel of theirs
Yeah i guess we did do a lot this week in hindsight after writing it all down i just didnt really think about it
We read moroni 7:40-48 with the family we ate dinner with on saturday its really good and theres a new video about it on gospel library it talks about faith hope and charity its cool

Ok bye lol

November 4th. 2024 - 63rd Email - Boo

I bet I scared you with the title

Dont lie you're quaking in your books rn

Anyway

This week was insane
I literally dont even remember what happened two weeks ago you might as well ask me what happened in halloween when I was a kindergartner like its a lost cause dont even try fr

But this week I remember a little bit better
So last monday we exchanged after pday with the elders up in palm desert we exchanged for two nights so monday after pday to wednesday morning
We had to do service at 5 (L) which was honestly fun moving furniture and because we had like no time to eat dinner we took a little bit of time after the service to go get in n out and then after we had bought the food this member was like "hey wanna come over and get food" and we're like "uh i guess but we'll take it to go" and we got there and it was this really sweet old lady and we felt so bad we couldnt stay (also because i totally wanted to watch the world series with them cuz they had it on) but we took the food home with us and didnt really get a whole lot done that evening
Then tuesday we had to help another person move it was fun and then she gave us 20 bucks (W) and we ended up later helping her move her electric piano to the churcu building so now the church building has a cool electric piano but its all the way up in palm desert so ill never be able to enjoy it being so far down in borrego
Idek what else we did that day a member was going to take us to in n out again (lol) but then she decided to take us to panera instead and i got this GAS sandwich there it was so good
Elder curtis and i really bonded over video games we had played a lot of the same games as kids lol
Uhhhhh
Wednesday was zone conference which was really good i learned a lot
But i had like no time to pack that morning we had to leave almost immediately after i got out of the shower so we ended up hanging out with the palm desert elders for a little longer until we finally left their apartment at about 5:30 (we also got mcdonalds with em) so we finally got back to our area at about 6:30 to do work and that was the first time i was in my area this week
Nothing really crazy happened wednesday evening, we tryna convince this kid to get baptized tho so pray for him hes super close he just needs to decide
Thursday we had zone council so we had to drive all the way up to indio again and then we had lunch for a little too long so we be getting back to our area at like 2:30 and we needed to be back in our house at 5 so we went tracting for a bit found some people and then we hung out with a member for halloween he got us food and we played cards with him for a bit
Then on friday we went to borrego (long drive) we had a nice dinner with a sister in the english branch and stuff it was a good day and it was honestly kinda a blur
Saturday was WILD
So we did a service in indio to help the city or something (the "indio lindo beautification project") we ended up painting a wall but as we were leaving our house in the morning we left out the back sliding door and we had a wooden stick to stop the door to lock it overnight so we lift it to leave and then after we left elder mejia forgot something so we went back and realized that the wooden stick fell back down and we locked ourselves out of our house
As luck would have it we did not have a key
So we called the ap's and were like "lol yeah we cant get into our house" and we drove up to indio and about 40 minutes in they called us saying we needed to meet up in cabazon at 10 am which was a 40 minute drive from indio and we barely did anything on the wall and we had to leave
So we get there, grab some mcdonalds, and then the aps pull up a half hour late and tell us "yeah the mission office doesnt have a copy of your keys so here's a keychain that probably has the right key on it" so we give up on making it back to the service to help some more and we just take the hour drive back home and we get home and realize not one of the keys they gave us worked on our house so we gave up and sat outside calling members frantically asking for help and eventually a brother in the english branch was coming by anyway (we were going to give another guy in the branch a blessing) so we told him our predicament and he tried to help us but we still couldnt get in and then we got to the other brother's house and he told us his plight
Bro was "careless" and burned himself pretty bad honestly i dont really remember what he said had happened but he had wrappings on his left arm and leg for the burns so thats kinda nuts
Luckily he was still able to come to church and actually drove himself all the way to the burn clinic in redlands when it happened but we helped him move some stuff and gave him a blessing and then the other brother got extra tools from his house and we were able to break back into our own house by removing the sliding door
Then on sunday it was fun because a family visiting the area invited us to watch elder bednar's devotional with them and they were super cool but it meant we had to drive back and forth to and from borrego which was a lot of driving
I took a good nap though and daylight savings extra hour of sleep was much needed

Oh also on friday we checked our mailbox for the first time in months and we found a TON of subway coupons and some were still good and that made me really happy

Okay i think thats basically it honestly i cant believe halloween was this week thats still wild to me its almost hidden in the other random junk that happened

Alright picture time
-we carved pumpkins last monday for our pday activity and i forgot to post the pictures to my email
